Krutzen Named Third Team All-America

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – On Thursday, the United Soccer Coaches announced the 2017 Division I Men's Soccer All-America selections.  The University at Albany landed one student-athlete among the selections.  Daniel Krutzen was named to the Third Team as a midfielder.

For Krutzen, a junior from Lanaken, Belgium, it is the latest accolade in a season full of them.  He led the America East this season with seven assists, and ranked third on the team in total points scored.  Krutzen was named to the America East All-Conference First Team following his efforts during the regular season, and continued his excellence through the America East tournament, after which he was recognized as the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.  Last week, Krutzen was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-East First Team.

Krutzen is one of 37 student-athletes named to this season's All-America teams.  Seven of the student-athletes will participate in Friday's College Cup semifinals.  New Hampshire forward Robin Schmidt, who was named to the Second Team, was the only other America East representative to earn All-America honors.

This year's All-Americans will be formally acknowledged at the All-America Luncheon on January 20 at the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention.
