University at Albany defensive lineman Antoine White returned a fumble for a touchdown and tailback Karl Mofor ran for 105 yards, but Maine's field goal early in the fourth quarter was the decisive score in the Black Bears' 12-10 victory at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.
Ethan Stark also booted a 36-yard field goal for the Great Danes (3-4, 1-3 Colonial Athletic Association), who were coming off a bye and playing in front of a Homecoming crowd of 8,919 fans.
Brandon Briggs kicked two 37-yard field goals for Maine (3-3, 2-3 CAA), and quarterback Chris Ferguson threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Micah Wright in the second quarter.
Josh Mack also gained 108 yards rushing for the Black Bears.
The Great Danes scored first with 3:38 to play in the first quarter. Eli Mencer forced a fumble at Maine's 12-yard line, and the ball was scooped up by White, who ran 5 yards to the end zone.
But Maine went to halftime with a 9-7 lead after Briggs' first field goal and Wright's touchdown catch with 11:09 to play in the second quarter.
Stark's field goal gave UAlbany back the lead, 10-9, with 2:08 left in the third quarter, but it lasted just 3 minutes, 6 seconds.
Eli Mencer and Jamal Robinson led the UAlbany defense with 12 tackles each. Robinson also intercepted a pass.
