Siena Delivers UAlbany Its Sixth Straight Loss, 2-0

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena's Falko Friedrich delivered the game-winner in the 75th minute to down UAlbany, 2-0, on Sunday, September 23. The Great Danes fall to 2-7 overall while the Saints improve to 4-4.

With UAlbany and Siena deadlocked in a scoreless tie at half, the Saints broke the tie in the 75th minute. Jannis Opalka from the right side of the field sent a cross towards the box then Sandre Ek tipped the pass with a header and Friedrich finished off the play for his second goal of the season. Siena came right back three minutes later, in the 78th minute, causing a turnover that Ek would put in for the insurance goal.

Siena came out shooting in the first half, tallying 10 shots to UAlbany's four. The Great Danes goalkeeper Tim Allen would make all four saves that were shot on net to hold a clean sheet through the half.

For the game, Siena lead in shots, 15-6 and in corner kicks, 8-6.

Allen would record four saves on six chances for the match. Siena goalkeeper Damian Liesemann would not need to make a save to record the clean sheet.

UAlbany opens up conference play against Stony Brook on Saturday, September 29 at the Plumeri Sports Complex (5 pm).
