UAlbany Falls Short To Boston U., 70-57; Great Danes Look Ahead To Vermont

Boston, Mass.- DJ Irving with 17 points on 4-of-7 shooting led Boston U. over UAlbany, 70-57, on Monday, Jan. 16 at Agganis Arena. UAlbany falls to 12-8 overall and 4-2 in the America East while Boston U. improves to 8-11 overall and 4-1 in the conference. The Great Danes look forward to Vermont on the road on Thursday, Jan. 20 in Burlington, Vt.
     Logan Aronhalt led the Great Danes with 20 points on 4-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc. Junior guard Mike Black also factored in double-digits with 13 points and 6 assists. Junior guard Gerardo Suero was held under double-digits for the first time this season with six points on 1-of-10 shooting.
     Irving led the Terriers with 17 points on 4-of-7 shooting, six assists and three steals. Senior Darryl Partin was also in double-digits for BU with 15 points along with five rebounds and five assists.
     Boston U. led UAlbany in all shooting categories, going 51.1 percent from the floor, 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 65.0 from the free-throw line. UAlbany shot 30.6 from the floor, 35.7 from the three point line and 64.3 from the free-throw line. The Great Danes out rebounded the Terriers, 40-31.
     After falling behind 10-2 with 14:27 left in the half, UAlbany started to go on a 14-2 run to grab the lead, 16-12, with 9:01 remaining in the half. A couple of three's, two by Black and one by Jayson Guerrier, were a big part of the Great Dane run.
     Boston U. responded back by finishing out the half on a 20-12 run to grab the lead at the half, 32-25. Mike Terry Jr. led the Terriers on their run with all seven of his first half points during the stretch.
     The Terriers built from the seven point lead at half and went as high as 23 points, 53-30, with 10:33 left in the game.
     UAlbany looked to cut the deficit by going with bench players, Sam Rowley, Ralph Watts, and John Puk, along with Aronhalt and Black. The Great Danes would get it as close as 10, 59-49, with 4:49 left in the game but that's as close as they would get.
