Albany, N.Y.- The UAlbany men's soccer team fell to Siena, 1-0, on Sunday, Sept. 25 at Siena Turf Field. The Great Danes have now lost two straight matches and look to their first conference game on the road against UMBC on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7 pm. UAlbany's senior goalkeeper Adrian Foncette recorded four saves on five chances.
Siena (3-4) was able to find the back of the net first in the 59th minute from sophomore midfielder Matt Hemsley . The goal put the Saints up 1-0 which ended up being the only goal needed to defeat the Great Danes.
Both teams weren't able to find the back of the net in the first half. Siena led the shots 9-3 at the half with two shots on net that were denied by Foncette.
UAlbany (4-4) couldn't find many opportunities, as Siena outshot UAlbany 16-7. The Great Danes only shot on net came in the 88th minute, when junior forward Quintel Gates came off the bench to create a spark for the offense but was saved by the Saints freshman goalkeeper Jack Binks for his only save of the game.
