Albany, N.Y. - Dunja Prgomet finished with a match-high 10 kills and added eight digs, while UAlbany out-blocked Stony Brook, 7-3, as the Great Danes posted a 3-0 sweep of the Seawolves in America East Conference volleyball action on Sunday afternoon at University Gymnasium. UAlbany defeated Stony Brook in three sets with scores of25-17, 25-16 and 25-13.

            UAlbany jumped out to an early 6-1 lead in the first set behind the combined service game of Brooke Stanley and Samantha Brostrom. Stanley served up an ace for the first point of the game, while Brostrom served for four straight points, including an ace to give the Great Danes the early advantage. Stony Brook battled back later in the set, getting to within 12-11 on a UAlbany attack error. However, the Great Danes scored the five of the next six points to pull ahead, 17-12 on a Prgomet kill. A Stony Brook service error gave UAlbany set point, and an attack attempt into the net by Alicia Nelson ended the set in UAlbany's favor.

            The teams played a closer start to the second set, with Stony Brook getting ahead, 4-1 on an attack error by the Great Danes. UAlbany came back to tie the match at 6-6 on a Casey Wright kill, and then took the lead at 8-7 on another Stony Brook error. After the Seawolves came back to tie the set at 12-12, UAlbany got a kill from Stanley to take the lead for good. The Great Danes built up a six-point lead at 20-13, but Kelsey Sullivan recorded a kill to attempt to start a Stony Brook comeback. UAlbany continued to roll, getting to set point on a Prgomet kill, and ended the set as the senior outside hitter came up with a solo block.

            UAlbany came out firing in the final set, building up a 9-3 advantage behind the service game of Brostrom and Laurie Gonzalez. Progomet served up an ace later in the set to give UAlbany a 12-4 lead and prompt Stony Brook to take a timeout. The Great Danes continued to roll, getting three kills by freshman Sara Pope in the late going. Wright posted a huge solo block on Evann Slaughter's attack attempt to get UAlbany to set point, and finished the set with a kill up the middle to give the Great Danes the three-set sweep.

            UAlbany, which has now won four consecutive matches, all in three sets, hit .337 for the match. Stanley recorded 29 assists and seven digs, while Brostrom finished with six kills and six digs. Slaughter led Stony Brook with seven kills while Masa Balandzic recorded a match-high 10 digs. Stony Brook (12-11, AE 5-4) was held to .038 hitting as a team.

            UAlbany (15-8, AE 8-1) will welcome crosstown-rival Siena to University Gym on Wednesday in non-conference action. The Great Danes will be hosting their fourth annual Dig Pink match, supporting the Side-Out Foundation and breast cancer research.
