Taylor O’Connor was named Director of Digital Content and Communications in January of 2024. In this role, he oversees the communications department as a whole and is responsible for spearheading the overall strategy, execution, and analytics for all UAlbany Athletics social media channels, including day-to-day direction and management of the department's partnership with INFLCR and the department's photo and creative video database. He serves as the primary contact for the football and men’s lacrosse teams, as well as the secondary contact for the men’s basketball and baseball teams.
O’Connor joined the UAlbany Athletic Department in spring of 2021 as an Assistant Director of Communications before being named the Assistant Director for Digital Content and Communications later that fall. Before coming to UAlbany, he served as the Director of New Media/Communications at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). While at the MAAC, O'Connor served as the primary communications liaison between the conference office and its members. He was responsible for maintaining and updating the MAAC’s website, creating stories and graphics, and running the conference’s various social media accounts. He served as the primary media contact for the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships and helped aid the conference in hosting the 2018 and 2019 NCAA Women’s Basketball Regionals in Albany and the 2019 NCAA Frozen Four in Buffalo, New York.
O’Connor graduated from Siena College in 2018 with a degree in marketing. While at Siena, O’Connor served as a student-worker within the school’s athletics program for all four years while completing his undergrad. He grew up in the Capital Region as a graduate of Berne-Knox-Westerlo CSD and currently resides in Schenectady with his wife, Lizzy.
