Cody Rule

Cody Rule joined the UAlbany rowing coaching staff in August of 2026 after more than 15 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.

A native of Schenectady, N.Y., Rule began his collegiate coaching career at Schenectady County Community College, where he served as head coach from 2009–2019. During his tenure, he led all aspects of the women’s rowing program, including training, race preparation, athlete development, scheduling, travel, compliance, and budget management. Rule also built relationships with opposing schools and rowing programs while creating a team environment centered on accountability, inclusion, work ethic, and long-term athlete growth.

Rule most recently served as a varsity coach with Union College Crew, where he worked with student-athletes on technical development, training execution, team preparation, and competitive growth. In that role, he gained further experience in recruiting, athlete mentorship, program operations, and team development.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Rule has worked in leadership and organizational roles in the Capital Region, including positions in sales, marketing and product strategy. He has experience leading teams, managing stakeholders, developing strategic plans and building relationships with community and organizational partners.

Rule earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Schenectady County Community College in 2012. He also holds a USRowing Level 1 Coaching Certificate, CPR/AED certification and Microsoft Office Specialist certification.
