Kate Gentile

Gentile completed her ninth season as the UAlbany assistant, and first-base, coach in 2025.

At UAlbany

In her first two years (2017, 2018), UAlbany won a pair of America East Tournament titles and earned two NCAA Tournament berths, combining for 59 victories in those seasons. 
 
With Gentile's help, UAlbany softball has been a consistent force in the America East for each of the past six seasons. 
 
Most recently in 2022, the Great Danes made it to the America East championship game for the first time since 2018. UAlbany competed in three back-to-back championships and ended with a tournament victory as the first-seeded team in 2024.
 

Prior to UAlbany

Gentile came to UAlbany after spending time overseas in North Holland where she served as the assistant softball coach at Olympia Haarlem, focusing primarily on pitchers and catchers. In 2012, she was an assistant coach at California State University, East Bay, a Division II school.
 

Playing Career

Previous to Gentile’s coaching career, she was a member of the 2002-04 Pennsylvania State University Softball team competing in both the NCAA regional tournament (2003) and the Big Ten tournament (2004).
