Female - Dee Denis
Hometown: Hartford, Conn.

Denis won two individual events at the 2022 America East Outdoor Championships, and placed second in a third.  She won the 100m hurdles in 13.82, wind-aided, after setting a wind-legal personal-best of 14.21 in the preliminary round.  She won the 400m hurdles in a personal-best 58.96, moving into third all-time in program history.  Finally she placed second as a member of the 4x400m relay team, splitting 56.1 on the leadoff leg.
Male - Robert Blue
Hometown: Harrison, N.Y.

Blue swept the horizontal jumps at the 2022 America East Outdoor Championships, winning the long jump with a mark of 24-07.25, and winning the triple jump with a mark of 51-00.25.  Blue collected his elusive first individual America East title indoors this year with his victory in the triple jump, and concluded the conference championship season with victories in three of four total horizontal jump events between the indoor and outdoor seasons, with a second runner-up finish in the fourth, the indoor long jump.

Female - Katie Falotico
Hometown: Emerson, N.J.

During the softball team's series at Stony Brook, Falotico led the Great Danes with five RBI. The graduate student went 4-10 from the plate to grab a single, a double, a triple, and a grand slam throughout the three-game weekend. 
Male - John Daly
Hometown: Sparkill, N.Y.

Seeing action in four games this week, Daly batted .500, grabbing seven hits from 14 at bats. The redshirt-senior totaled four doubles and one home run for four RBI and five runs while drawing five walks.

April 26
Female - Dominique Clarke
Hometown: Kingston, Jamaica

Just one week after sophomore Shak Williams set a new school record in the men’s 100m, sophomore Dominique Clarke repeated the feat in the women’s 100m.  Clarke clocked a time of 11.56, surpassing the previous record of 11.60 set in 2018 by Stephanie Osuji.  This season, the Great Danes have seen the sport’s most prestigious record fall to members of their sophomore class.  Clarke also earned a win as the anchor leg of UAlbany's 4x100m relay that set a new meet and facility record of 45.31.
Male - Louie Gordon
Hometown: Bodden Town, Grand Cayman

Louie Gordon became the first Great Dane in history to exceed the 25’ barrier in the men’s long jump, recording a mark of 25-04.75 in victory at UAlbany’s 2022 Bobbi Palma Spring Classic.  Gordon surpassed the previous program record of 24-10.00 set last season by teammate Robert Blue.  Blue broke Gordon’s previous school record in the long jump of 24-07.75 just one week after Gordon set the mark last season.

April 19
Female - Morgan Petty, Softball
Hometown: Milford, Del.

Morgan Petty led the way during the Great Danes' 4-1 week. One of two batter with a team-high .471 batting average, Petty totaled four extra-base hits, including two home runs. The junior led the team with nine RBI and successfully stole two bases.
Female - Sarah Falk, Women's Lacrosse
Hometown: Fairport, N.Y.

Falk was one of two Great Danes over the weekend to score six total points in the game at UMBC.  Falk went off four five goals and added on assist to power the team's victory over the Retrievers, 13-9.  After falling into a 2-0 hole, Falk scored each of UAlbany's first three goals to give UAlbany a lead they would never relinquish.  Falk added a fourth goal mid-way through the second quarter, and her fifth came at the end of the fourth, the last score of the game.
Male - Shak Williams
Hometown: St. Andrew, Jamaica

Williams highlighted the Great Danes' second-straight trip to UConn over the weekend, winning the men's 100m dash and breaking his own school record with a time of 10.37.  His previous best was 10.52.  Not only does Williams set a new record in the sport's most prestigious event, his time also surpasses the best all-conditions mark of a wind-aided 10.39 set in 2017 by Robert Harris III.
Male - Brad Malm
Hometown: Medford, N.Y.

Tallying his 14th home run, Malm highlighted the week breaking the single-season record. In addition to his homer, the redshirt-senior added a triple for two RBI with four starts on the week.

April 12
Female - Wendi Hammond, Softball
Hometown: Cheming, N.Y.

Wendi Hammond led the way in a 4-0 week with three wins from the circle. The junior pitcher tallied two complete-game victories, one against Army (4/6) and one against Maine (4/9) and one shutout. She notched nine strikeouts, allowing just three runs in 17.0 innings in the circle. 
Male - Will Ramos, Men's Lacrosse
Hometown: Upper Nyack, N.Y.

Ramos, a redshirt-senior, made his season debut in goal in the men's lacrosse game against Syracuse on April 7, filling in for injured starter Tommy Heller.  Ramos anchored the Great Danes' defensive effort against Orange, locking down the cage to the tune of 15 saves, one shy of his career-high 16, and holding Syracuse to just 12 scores on 52 shots.  The win over the Orange, the third in series history in 20 meetings, was also the first of Ramos' career.

April 5
Female - Dee Denis, Women's Track & Field
Hometown: Hartford, Conn.

In her second meet of the outdoor season, the UConn Dogfight, Denis won the 100m hurdles in 14.30 and placed second in the 400m hurdles in 1:00.74.  Both times were career personal bests for Denis, whose 18 points led the way for the Great Danes to finish third as a team against a collection of the top programs in the Northeast.  Both marks also satisfy the qualifying standard for the 2022 ECAC Outdoor Championships.
Male - Jack VanValkenburgh, Men's Lacrosse
Hometown: Syracuse, N.Y.

Filling in for injured starter Tommy Heller, VanValkenburgh made his first career start in goal for the Great Danes in the road trip to UMass Lowell.  In a tight contest against the River Hawks, VanValkenburgh recorded his first career victory while making 15 saves.  With UMass Lowell surging late with a chance to tie the game, VanValkenburgh and the UAlbany defense turned away four shots from the River Hawks to clinch the Great Danes' first road victory of the season.

March 29
Female - Courtney Rowe, Women's Lacrosse
Hometown: Rush, N.Y.

Freshman midfielder Courtney Rowe put forth a breakout performance in women's lacrosse's game against #22 UConn.  Rowe, who had scored one goal through the season's first six games, notched four goals against the Huskies to lead the team.  She followed up her performance against UConn with two more goals in the America East opener against Binghamton, bringing her total for the week to six.
Male - Nick Karnes, Men's Lacrosse
Hometown: Warrenton, Va.

Karnes was instrumental in UAlbany men's lacrosse's 12-10 victory over Stony Brook, dominating the faceoff X throughout the game.  Karnes won 18 of the 25 faceoff attempts he took against the Seawolves, including eight of 11 in the fourth quarter.  Karnes' ability to win possession for the Great Danes stifled Stony Brook's comeback attempt in the final quarter and secured a UAlbany victory over their biggest rival.

March 22
Female - Maddi Petrella, Softball
Hometown: League City, Texas

Maddi Petrella led the Great Danes against CCSU in their doubleheader on March 16. Overall, the sophomore catcher went 7-8 at the plate, seeing four hits from four at-bats in the first game. Throughout the day, she tallied five RBI and three runs. Two of her seven hits were multi-base hits (doubles).
Male - Will Binder, Baseball
Hometown: Yardley, Pa.

Will Binder started for the Great Danes in all three games for the sweep at UMBC. The sophomore notched a team-high seven hits and six RBI for a .538 batting average and slugging percentage.

March 15
Female - Morgan Haney, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Piqua, Ohio

Being named Player of the Game, Morgan Haney was essential in the America East Championship (3/11). Going 4-4 from the three-point arc in the first half, the redshirt-sophomore assisted in gaining a lead the Great Danes would not relinquish. Totaling a career-high 20 points, Haney led UAlbany to its first America East Title since 2017.
Male - Anthony Germinerio, Baseball
Hometown: Troy, N.Y.

Anthony Germinerio led the Great Danes on the mound. Tallying the team's weekend win, the redshirt-sophomore tallied seven strikeouts in 5.0 innings pitched. Allowing just one earned run, he closed the weekend with a team-low 1.80 ERA.

March 8
Female - Freja Werth, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Aldrid, Sweden

Freja came in clutch during the Great Danes' quarterfinal contest against #7 New Hampshire on Saturday, March 5. The rookie went 4-4 from the three, with two baskets coming in the fourth quarter, to assist in UAlbany's win, 49-44.
Male - Connor Eisenmann, Baseball
Hometown: Blasdell, N.Y.

Connor started on the mound for the Great Danes' third game against Iona on Sunday, March 6 - an 11-1 victory. The sophomore pitched seven innings, allowing just one hit with seven strikeouts for a 0.00 ERA on the weekend.

Female - Helene Haegerstrand, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden

Helene Haegerstrand was an essential piece of the Great Danes as they beat Stony Brook, 57-56, in the final minute to guarantee the second seed headed into the AE Tournament. Helene led the team's offense (18 points) and defense (6 rebounds) against the Seawolves. Coming back from a 16-point deficit in the beginning of the fourth quarter, Helene's 12 fourth-quarter points, including the game-winning basket with 16.7 seconds remaining, proved game-changing and led to the UAlbany win. 
Female - Ludith Campos, Women's Track & Field
Hometown: Mount Vernon, N.Y.

Ludith Campos set a personal best of nearly five feet to win the women's weight throw at the 2022 America East Indoor Championships.  Her mark, 67-11.50, surpasses her previous best of 63-01.25, set earlier this season at the Great Dane Classic in January.  Ludith also broke former Great Dane Chinwe Igwe's program and championship meet record of 65-08.75 set at the 2017 America East Indoor Championships.  Finally, Ludith's result led a group of UAlbany throwers in the weight throw and shot put that scored a collective 41 of the team's 180 points to win the women's ninth-straight America East Indoor title and 11th overall in 12 years.
Male - Robert Blue, Men's Track & Field
Hometown: Harrison, N.Y.

Robert Blue, one of two Great Danes holding the men's track & field program's school record in the outdoor triple jump, won his first America East title in his signature event last weekend at the 2022 Indoor Championships.  He jumped an indoor season-best of 51-08.50, winning the event by more than two feet.  His mark also set an indoor championship meet record, previously 51-04.25 set in 2009 by former Great Dane Nasim Siddeeq.  His win, in addition to his third-place finish in the men's long jump, secured Robert the America East Most Outstanding Men's Field Performer award.
Male - John Daly, Baseball
Hometown: Sparkill, N.Y.

John Daly led the Great Danes going 8-15 (.533) at the plate in four wins at UMES. The redshirt-senior tallied five RBI and five runs from his eight hits. Daly added a home run, and three RBI, during the first game of the weekend on Friday (2/25).

February 22
Female - Sam Rutt, Women's Track & Field
Hometown: Stony Brook, N.Y.

In her final meet before the 2022 America East Indoor Championships, Sam and a handful of her teammates took the opportunity for one final weekend of competition at the West Point Tune-Up hosted by Army West Point. Rutt won the women's 1,000m in a season-best time of 2:57.18, an improvement by more than six seconds on her previous season-best time. The win ensured Rutt ends the 2022 indoor season unbeaten in races held at Army West Point, and her new time, factoring in the flat-track-to-banked-track conversion, ranks seventh in the America East heading into championship season.
Male - Brad Malm, Baseball
Hometown: Medford, N.Y.

Brad Malm led the Great Danes in their opening weekend at #16 Georgia. In baseball's first game of 2022, Malm notched a home run and two RBI in a 4-2 loss. He followed the Friday performance with two home runs and four RBI in a one-run loss on Saturday. Overall, tallied two home runs and seven RBI with three hits and a sacrifice fly.

February 15
Female - Ellen Hahne, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden

Ellen Hahne came off the bench to lead the Great Danes with 5.7 rebounds per game. Tallying two steals at Vermont, she contributed a total of four throughout the three game week. The senior guard added three assists and 14 points.
Male - Justin Neely, Men's Basketball
Hometown: Miami, Fla.

Justin Neely averaged 17.5 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game in two games last week. The rookie forward scored a career-high 26 points against Vermont on Saturday (2/12). Neely tallied his sixth America East Rookie of the Week award on February 14.

February 8
Female - Lucia Decortes, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Bonate Sopra, Bergamo, Italy

Lucia Decortes helped the UAlbany women's basketball team in their journey to own the number one rank in the nation in scoring defense. Throughout the last week, and two games, Decortes tallied five blocks and 13 rebounds. She served in her post position as the Great Danes held Hartford (2/5) to 24 points, a Division I program low against a DI opponent. The senior also tallied six assists and 16 points throughout the week.
Male - Shak Williams, Men's Track & Field
Hometown: St. Andrew, Jamaica

Already UAlbany's program record-holder in the 100m dash, 10.52, Shak Williams crept up the record book in the 60m dash last weekend at the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge at the Armory in New York City (2/5).  Williams broke the freshman program record in the preliminary round of the 60m, crossing the line in 6.80.  In the finals, Williams placed second overall, breaking the record he set in the prelims, finishing in 6.78.  He now ranks second all-time in program history, behind just UAlbany assistant coach for short sprints Junior Burnett, who ran 6.77 in 2007.

February 1
Female - Dominique Clarke, Women's Track & Field
Hometown: Kingston, Jamaica

Dominique won two events at the 18th annual Great Dane Classic, setting personal-bests and freshman class program records in both the 60m in 200m.  Her time of 7.59 in the 60m bested the previous record of 7.64 set earlier this season by teammate Brynley McDermott, and her time of 24.50 in the 200m broke the 12-year-old mark of 24.87 set in 2010 by Allison Rogers.
Male - Yourry Tapande-Ngombe, Men's Track & Field
Hometown: Capital Heights, Md.

Yourry won the 400m dash at the 2022 Great Dane Classic, crossing the line in a personal-best 48.28.  A day later, he ran the second leg of UAlbany's 4x200m relay at the Millrose Games, the indoor season's most prestigious meet.  There, the Great Danes placed second overall in 1:29.25, with Yourry clocking a second-leg split of 22.5.

January 25
Female - Rori Lowe, Women's Track & Field
Hometown: Bronx, N.Y.

Rori set personal bests in two events over the weekend at Boston University's Battle in Beantown (1/22).  In the 400m, her first in her Great Dane career, she finished third in 57.58.  In the 60m, she surpassed her previous personal best of 7.84 twice, first in the preliminary round, qualifying ninth in 7.78, and ultimately placing eighth in the finals in 7.74.
Male - Jan Michael Gutierrez Almedina, Men's Track & Field
Hometown: Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico

Already the only Great Dane in program history to break 21 seconds in the 200m, Jan Michael Gutierrez Almedina became just the fifth sprinter in program history to break 47 seconds in the 400m, and just the third to do so indoors.  His time of 46.98 won the Battle in Beantown (1/22) at Boston University and currently ranks 12th nationally among Division I athletes.

January 18
Female - Kayla Cooper, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Frederick, Md.

Kayla Cooper made her way to the starting lineup after an impressive start to her season. Starting all three games this week, Kayla totaled 11 rebounds per game and 19.3 points per game. A sophomore guard, she shot 49% from the field while adding five assists, four steals, and two blocks.
Male - Paul Newman, Men's Basketball
Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.

A graduate student on the team, Paul Newman started both games this week - two wins at home against UMass Lowell (1/12) and NJIT (1/15). Shooting 46%, Newman tallied 11 rebounds per game. Playing center, he added three steals and three blocks.

January 11
Female - Lucia Decortes, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Bonate Sopra, Bergamo, Italy

Lucia Decortes was a defensive powerhouse in the Great Danes' sole game this week. In a 50-39 win over New Hampshire, Decortes tallied seven steals and six blocks with five rebounds. The senior forward's defensive efforts led the team to a decisive win at home.
Male - Jamel Horton, Men's Basketball
Hometown: Queens, N.Y.

A senior guard, Horton led the Great Danes with 22.5 points per game over two games against Binghamton (1/6) and at New Hampshire (1/8). With two steals, he shot 50% from the field while making four three-point baskets.

January 5 (Holiday Break)
Female - Freja Werth, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Aldrid, Sweden

Seeing action in all three games since December 14, Werth totaled 30 points scoring double-digits in two games. She also led the team with 3.3 assists per game through this three-game period. On defense, the freshman guard tallied 3.3 rebounds per game (10 total) and two blocks, as well as compiling two steals in transition. Overall, Werth went 12-20 from the field for a .600 shooting percentage.
Male - Jarvis Doles, Men's Basketball
Hometown: Baltimore, Md.

A graduate student on the team, Jarvis Doles started both holiday break games. Doles contributed on both offense and defense with 8.0 points per game and 5.0 rebounds per game. The forward went 2-3 from outside the arc for a .667 three-point percentage.

December 14
Female - Kayla Cooper, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Frederick, Md.

Cooper led the Great Danes' defense tallying double-digit rebounds against Vanderbilt (Dec. 8). She also contributed with eight points (the team's third-highest of the afternoon) against the Commodores. The sophomore guard continued her week with a team-high three offensive rebounds and the team's third-highest points (9) against Siena (Dec. 12). 
Male - Matt Cerruti, Men's Basketball
Hometown: Huntington Valley, Pa.

Cerruti tallied the go-ahead basket that gave the Great Danes a lead they would not relinquish against ACC-foe Boston College (Dec. 13). The graduate student compiled 14 points and four rebounds against the Eagles, both of which were good for second on the team for the night. Cerruti compiled eight points and five rebounds against Columbia for the Big Purple Growl (Dec. 11). 

December 7
Female - Leann Nicholas, Women's Track and Field
Hometown: Farmingdale, N.Y.

Competing in the Carlton Crowell Open (12/4), Nicholas broke the program's indoor freshman record in the women's triple jump of 39-08.00, originally set in 2008 matched in 2010.  It also surpasses the program's wind-legal outdoor freshman record of 39-07.25 set in 2013, and the all-conditions freshman record of 39-11.50 (nwi) set in 2005.  Her mark now ranks sixth all-time indoors in program history.  Nicholas also broke the meet record in the women's triple jump, formerly 39-01.75 set in 2018.  Through the weekend, Nicholas' mark stood as the fifth-best among NCAA Division I competitors.
Male - Travis Robinson, Men's Track and Field
Hometown: Kingston, Jamaica

Also competing in the Carlton Crowell Open (12/4), Robinson made a mark of 54-11.25 in the men's shot put to break the program's indoor freshman record of 48-01.25 set in 2005. He now ranks behind only DelVescovo's outdoor and overall program record of 55-00.00.  Through the season's first weekend, Robinson's mark ranks 25th among NCAA Division I competitors.

November 30
Female - Helene Haegerstrand, Women's Basketball
Hometown: Stockholm, Sweden

Haegerstrand led the Great Danes' scoring against Cornell (11/24) and Boston College (11/28). Totaling 15.5 points per game, the junior shot 57% from the field and 64% from outside the arc. The forward added two blocks, four rebounds, two assists, and one steal. She was the only Great Dane to total more than one block this week.
Male - Justin Neely, Men's Basketball
Hometown: Miami, Fla.

Traveling to Kentucky for three games in four days, the Great Danes' head coach Dwayne Killings led his team to his first win as a head coach on November 24. The freshman forward went for a buzzer-beating three-pointer to win the game, 64-62, against Eastern Illinois.

November 23
Female - Malea Stanton, Women's Volleyball
Hometown: Culver City, Calif.

Assisting the Great Danes in advancing to the America East Championship, Malea Stanton was named to the All-Championship Tournament team for her efforts. Overall the junior setter tallied 89 assists, including 48 during the five-set championship (Nov. 20) and 41 in the three-set sweep for the semifinals (Nov. 19). She added 10 digs and five blocks, including a solo block against UMBC, throughout the tournament.
Male - Dre Perry, Men's Basketball
Hometown: Baltimore, Md.

Hosting Harvard (Nov. 17) before playing on the road against Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 20) and Kentucky (Nov. 22), Perry has sat atop the Great Danes throughout the last week. Totaling a double-double (18 points, 11 rebounds) against Harvard and 18 points and five rebounds at Kentucky, Perry led UAlbany in its second week of competition.

November 16
Female - Charlotte Macken, Women's Volleyball
Hometown: Clifton Park, N.Y.

Macken served as the libero in a three-set victory over Binghamton on Friday, November 12. The senior tallied 26 digs, 8.67 digs per set, to lead the Great Danes on defense.
Male - Jeff Undercuffler, Football
Hometown: Burlington, N.J.

Undercuffler started and led the Great Danes to a 31-17 win over Morgan State on Saturday, November 13. The redshirt-sophomore quarterback completed over half of his passes for 328 yards and two touchdowns including a game-high 73-yard pass.

November 9
Female - Delaney Foerster, Women's Volleyball
Hometown: Eagan, Minn.

In a 3-0 win over Stony Brook on November 5, Foerster started her first match of the season. The freshman outside hitter saw time during all three sets to total seven kills for a team-high .467 hitting percentage.
Male - Karl Mofor, Football
Hometown: Massapequa, N.Y.

Mofor led the Great Danes in their 20-7 win over New Hampshire on November 6. The senior running back rushed a career-high 222 yards with a school-record 45 carries. The All-America scored both of UAlbany's touchdowns.

November 2
Female - Alison Smisdom, Field Hockey
Hometown: Edegem, Belgium

Smisdom topped her previous award-winning weekend scoring five goals in two games. The freshman began her weekend with a hat trick in a 5-4 defeat of UC Davis (Oct. 29) before scoring both goals in a 2-1 overtime win against California (Oct. 31) to secure the Great Danes the third seed headed into the America East Tournament.
Male - Alex Bourgeois, Men's Soccer
Hometown: Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.

A senior defender, Bourgeois scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Binghamton on senior night, October 28. 

October 26
Female - Regan Wright, Women's Volleyball
Hometown: Houston, Texas

Wright topped the Great Dane offense against UMBC on Friday, October 22. The senior outside hitter totaled 15 kills for a .278 hitting percentage in the four-set match. 
Male - Karl Mofor, Football
Hometown: Massapequa, N.Y.

Mofor led the Great Danes in their game against Maine on Saturday, October 23. The senior runningback tallied 113 yards on the ground, making five receptions for 41 yards. 

October 19
Female - Lara Mortz, Field Hockey
Hometown: Hamburg, Germany

Mortz scored her third goal of the season against UMass Lowell on Friday, October 15. The sophomore's goal, tallied during a penalty corner, served as the game-winning goal in the 2-1 victory.
Male - Saad Faiz, Men's Soccer
Hometown: Casablanca, Morocco

Faiz contributed to the Great Danes' 2-1 win over UMass Lowell on Wednesday, October 13. The freshman scored the game-winning goal late in the second half to secure the win.

October 12
Female - Danielle Tedesco, Women's Volleyball
Hometown: Cazenovia, N.Y.

Tedesco led the Great Danes in a 2-0 weekend with a three-set sweep of Hartford on October 8 and a four-set victory at NJIT on October 10. The graduate student completed the weekend with a .422 hitting percentage with 24 kills (3.43 kills/set). The middle blocker also totaled 13 blocks in two matches.
Male - Karl Mofor, Football
Hometown: Massapequa, N.Y.

Mofor had an excellent game against William & Mary on October 9. The senior runningback scored two of the Great Danes' three touchdowns and tallied a net of 126 yards in Virginia.

October 5
Female - Cassandra Coster, Women's Soccer
Hometown: Poughquag, N.Y.

Coster backed the Great Danes' defense in a 1-0 win against Maine on October 3. The freshman goalkeeper tallied her first collegiate shutout and the team's first shutout win of the season.
Male - Dylan Burns, Football
Hometown: Massapequa, N.Y.

Burns stood out during the Great Danes' game on October 2. The redshirt-senior kicker made three of three field goals at Delaware.

September 28
Female - Amber Thornton, Women's Golf
Hometown: Canberra, Australia

Thornton led UAlbany's women's golf team at the Princeton Invitational (Sept. 25-26). The sophomore broke two program records and tied one. She broke the first on Saturday when golfing a 66 (-6) in the second round (18 holes). With her 66, she also tied the 36-hole record with a 139 after tallying a 73 (+1) in the first round. Thornton completed the trifecta after golfing a 71 (-1) on Sunday. Her 210 mark broke the 54-hole record by 10 strokes.
Male - Andrew Weiner, Men's Soccer
Hometown: North Bellmore, N.Y.

Weiner led the Great Danes with two goals throughout the weeks' two victories. The junior scored one goal against Rhode Island (Sept. 21) and one goal against NJIT (Sept. 25). 

September 21
Female - Oren Abutbul, Women's Volleyball
Hometown: Zichron Yaakov, Israel

Abutbul led the Great Dane offense against strong opponents at the Jayhawk Classic hosted by the University of Kansas (Sept. 17-18). The freshman tallied 34 kills (2.83 kills/set) with a 2.63 hitting percentage over the weekend. She also added seven blocks while helping to defend against attacks.

Hometown: Aliquippa, Pa.

Walker Jr. stood out on defense as the Great Danes visited Syracuse on Saturday, September 18. The sophomore contributed eight tackles, seven of which were solo tackles, and one interception against the Orange.

Female - Jasmine Colbert, Women's Soccer
Hometown: Freehold, N.J.

Colbert led the Great Danes with two goals and one assist over the last week. The senior forward contributed to the team's 4-3 win over Yale (Sept. 9) with one goal and one assist while also scoring the sole UAlbany goal at Wagner (Sept. 12).
Male - Giuliano Lucca, Men's Soccer
Hometown: Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Lucca was one of three starting midfielders in the Great Danes' 1-0 win against Lafayette on Friday, September 10. The sophomore scored the game-winning goal with just five seconds left in the game.

Female - Alison Smisdom, Field Hockey
Hometown: Edegem, Belgium

Smisdom shined in the Great Danes' first road game of 2021. The freshman midfielder tallied her first career hat trick during UAlbany's 4-1 win over Wagner on Friday, September 3.
Male - Carlos Tofern, Men's Soccer
Hometown: Hamburg, Germany

Tofern anchored the defense in the Great Danes' 1-0 win at Villanova on Friday, September 3. The senior goalkeeper tallied six saves to earn the shutout win.

September 1

Female - Elaina Burchell, Field Hockey
Hometown: Whitney Point, N.Y.

Burchell shined in the Great Danes' first game of the 2021 season. The senior midfielder scored two goals and tallied one assist in the 5-1 win over Colgate on August 27. 
Male - Haflidi Sigurdarson, Men's Soccer
Hometown: Reykjavik, Iceland

Sigurdarson led the Great Danes to a 1-0 win over Fairfield to begin the 2021 season on August 26. The senior midfielder scored the lone goal of the game in the 61st minute.
