Gibbons was a member of the track and field team at
McClancy High School where he served as captain his senior year. He was a New York State Champion in the 55 hurdles and 110 hurdles.

Sidney Gibbons is the son of Sydney and Debra Gibbons. He has two brothers, Stephen and
Shamir. He also has a sister,
Sherra. Gibbons was also a member of the National Honors Society.
