High School
Buechele was a four-year letter-winner at Arlington High School, where he also played soccer, wrestled, and ran cross country. In the two years he played soccer his team was a combined 23-3. As a wrestler, his team recorded a 12-1 record in his only season. His track team never suffered a defeat in his four years as a member, including his sole cross country season during his junior year. He served as track team captain as a junior and a senior. In his junior year,
Buechele won the pole vault at both the indoor and outdoor New York State Championships. He was named most valuable field athlete in 2011 and 2012. Additionally,
Buechele was named to the All-League team and the All-County team in each of his four years of competition.

Juergen and Elizabeth
Buechele. He has two sisters, Jacqueline and Madison. His uncle, Tim Gunther, ran track at
UAlbany. He plans to major in atmospheric sciences.
