Rice attended Mohawk Valley Community College and the University at Buffalo where she was a National Champion for NJCAA Division III in the 1500m, 3000m steeple chase, 5000m, and 10,000m.

High School
Rice was a four-year letter-earner at Holland Patent where she served as team captain her junior and senior year. She earned MVP for 2008-2010 in cross country and in 2011 for track.

Leah Rice is the daughter of Ted Rice and Ann Brelsford. She has brother, Zack. She was a member of the National Honor Society.
