BOSTON –The University at Albany men's lacrosse team has brought in a haul of end-of-year America East awards, securing a total of 14 honors. Headlining the accolades,
Scott Marr was named the conference's Coach of the Year for the eighth time in his career, while
Silas Richmond and
Max Neeson earned Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second year in a row.
Richmond and Neeson become the first pair of UAlbany teammates to both win Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year honors in back-to-back years. Neeson's selection for the major award marks the fourth consecutive year that the league's best defenseman called UAlbany home, with Jake Piseno collecting the honors in 2023 and 2024.

Scott Marr was named the America East Coach of the Year for the eighth time in his historic career. Marr led the Great Danes to a perfect 6-0 record in conference play, securing the America East regular-season title and home-field advantage for this week's conference championship. Silas Richmond | Sr. | Attack
Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference
The America East Offensive Player of the Year finished the regular season with 62 total points, averaging a conference-best 4.77 points per game. Richmond recorded 34 goals and 28 assists, ranking first in the America East in assists per game (2.15) and second in goals per game (2.62). It marks the second consecutive year that Richmond has collected the league's top offensive honor. Richmond was also selected fifth overall in the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft by the Philadelphia Waterdogs.
Max Neeson | Sr. | Defense
Defensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference, All-Academic Team
Earning Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season, Neeson was a cornerstone of a defensive unit that ranked second in the conference with a 10.12 goals-against average. In conference action, that number was even lower at a league-best 7.03. He led the Great Danes with 30 caused turnovers, best in the America East, contributing to a team defense that also led the conference with 10.29 caused turnovers per game. He was tasked with guarding each team's top offensive threats on each game. Additionally, Neeson scored four goals with the long pole and added 27 ground balls. He also earned a spot on the All-Academic team for his performance in the classroom, maintaining a 3.48 GPA as a Human Development major.
Jackson Palumb | Jr. | Midfield
First Team All-Conference
A First Team selection, Palumb appeared in 12 games, making 10 starts. He contributed 22 points on 16 goals and six assists while ranking 13th in the conference with 5.08 shots per game. He recorded a season-high five points on four goals with one assist in UAlbany's season opener against Cornell, the defending National Champions. He added 13 ground balls to his season-long stat line.
Cade Galko | Jr. | Defense
First Team All-Conference, All-Academic Team
Galko secured First Team honors as a primary starter on the Great Danes' close defense. He was a vital part of a defensive unit that led the America East in caused turnovers per game at 10.29 and ranked second in the conference with a 10.28 goals-against average. Galko individually recorded 47 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers throughout the season, with his ground ball mark leading all pole players on the team. He also earned All-Academic honors for the second year in a row for maintaining a 3.93 GPA while majoring in Business Administration.
Jacob Smith | Jr. | LSM
First Team All-Conference
The First Team selection solidifies Smith's standing as the premier long stick midfielder in the America East. A disruptive force in the transition game, he ranked second on the team with 24 caused turnovers and collected 36 ground balls. Offensively, he was a constant threat from the defensive end, scoring four pole goals and adding two assists for six total points.
Ryan Doherty | Jr. | Attack
Second Team All-Conference, All-Academic Team
A Second Team and All-Academic selection, Doherty was one of the most efficient finishers for the Great Danes, ranking sixth in the conference with 2.17 goals per game. He finished the season with 35 points on 26 goals and nine assists, including three games where he scored a season-high four goals. His offensive consistency helped lead a unit that ranked second in the America East in scoring average. He also earned academic honors for maintaining a 3.94 GPA in Business Administration, his second-straight season with the honor.
Koleton Marquis | Sr. | Midfield
Second Team All-Conference
Earning Second Team honors, Marquis was a veteran leader in the midfield who appeared in 12 games and recorded 19 goals and six assists. His 19 goals ranks 15
th in the conference, averaging 1.46 per game. Marquis recorded a season-best four goals and an assist during the both team's road win over Drexel and home win over Hobart. He finished the season as one of the most accurate shooters on the roster, posting a .413 shooting percentage.
Peter Marietta | Fr. | Midfield
All-Rookie Team
Named to the All-Rookie team, Marietta made an immediate impact by appearing in all 14 games during his debut season. He proved to be one of the most effective two-way freshmen in the league, recording 12 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers. Marietta posted a season-high three caused turnovers in crucial conference victories over Binghamton and Vermont. His versatility in the transition game was a key component of a UAlbany defense that led the America East in total caused turnovers.
Championship Information
The top-seeded Great Danes return to Casey Stadium this week as hosts of the 2026 America East Championship. The action kicks off Thursday with a semifinal doubleheader, featuring No. 2 Bryant against No. 3 Vermont at 4:00 p.m., followed by the Great Danes taking on No. 4 UMBC at 7:00 p.m. The winners of Thursday's matchups will meet for the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, May 2, at 1:00 p.m.
