UAlbany heads into its midweek matchup continuing to lean on a balanced offense and timely hitting. The Great Danes are batting .242 as a team with 287 hits and 149 RBIs on the season, led by Michael Maggio’s .336 average and Jaxon Mueller’s .284 clip. Tre Mariano has provided power in the middle of the lineup with five home runs and 18 RBIs, while the team continues to generate offense through walks and aggressive baserunning. The top-seeded Great Danes return to Casey Stadium this week as hosts of the 2026 America East Championship. After finishing the conference slate with a perfect 6-0 record, UAlbany earned the right to bring the postseason to the Capital Region for the three-game tournament. The action kicks off Thursday with a semifinal doubleheader, featuring No. 2 Bryant against No. 3 Vermont at 4:00 p.m., followed by the Great Danes taking on No. 4 UMBC at 7:00 p.m. The winners of Thursday’s matchups will meet for the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, May 2, at 1:00 p.m.

UAlbany enters the postseason having already secured victories over every team in the field during their undefeated conference run. The Great Danes opened America East play with a dominant 13-7 win over Bryant in mid-March and followed it up with a 10-6 road victory at UMBC, where a stifling defensive performance held the Retrievers scoreless in the third quarter. Most recently, the Danes solidified their top seed with a hard-fought 12-9 win over archrival Vermont at home.
