Cook’s OT Winner Keeps Women’s Lacrosse Perfect in America East Play

Score (OT): UAlbany 12, Binghamton 11

Short Story: The UAlbany women's lacrosse team, powered by a six-goal third quarter, rallied to take down Binghamton 12-11 Saturday afternoon in overtime.
 
Key Stats
  • Paisley Cook netted the overtime game winner with 34 seconds to go in the first OT.
  • Cook also led the team with 11 draw controls and two caused turnovers
  • Jaedyn Frink netted a team-high five goals and added an assist for a total of six points.

How it Happened
  • Kloey Roos got UAlbany on the board with a goal on an assist from Zareena Sorho less than a minute into the game to make it 1-0 early.
  • Binghamton answered back with a pair of goals at 9:49 and 8:43 to take the lead and push the score to 2-1.
  • The Bearcats added a pair of goals in the final four minutes of the first to extend the lead to 4-1 after one. 
  • The Great Danes got on the board first in the second quarter when Jaedyn Frink found the back of the net from an assist from Paisley Cook to cut the lead down to 4-2.
  • Binghamton responded with a goal four minutes later to push the lead to 5-2 with 8:27 left in the half.
  • Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the half, and the score remained 5-2 headed into the third.
  • Coming out of the break, Binghamton netted a goal just under two minutes into the third to make it 6-2.
  • After Cook caused a turnover, Frink took advantage of the breakaway and scored with an assist from Sorho to cut the lead down to 6-3.
  • Less than a minute later, the Great Danes scored again, this time from Riley Forthofer to make it a two-goal game, 6-4, with 10:57 to go in the third.
  • The Bearcats answered back with a goal two minutes later to push the score to 7-4.
  • From 6:12 to 2:24, UAlbany found the back of the net four times with Sorho, Mya Carroll, Ravan Marsell, and Frink all scoring to put them up 8-7 with two and a half left in the third.
  • Binghamton knotted it up at eight apiece with a goal with 1:04 remaining.
  • The Bearcats found the back of the net two minutes into the fourth to retake the lead at 9-8.
  • UAlbany answered back 13 seconds later when Amanda Williamson scored to tie it up again at nine apiece.
  • With just under seven minutes left in the game, Binghamton scored to take the lead at 10-9.
  • Following another turnover and breakaway, Frink netted her fourth goal of the game on an assist from Marsell to tie it up at 10 with five and a half to go.
  • A minute and a half later, the Bearcats found the back of the net to pull ahead by one, 11-10, with just under four to play in the fourth.
  • Less than a minute later, Frink netted her fifth goal of the game to tie it once again at 11.
  • Neither team was able to score for the last 2:42 of the fourth, and the game went into overtime tied at 11.
  • With 33.9 seconds left in overtime, Frink caused a turnover on the Bearcats' goalkeeper behind the net, proceeded to pick up the ground ball, and passed to Cook, who wrapped around the left side of the net and took a shot between the keeper's legs, and was able to find the back of the net and win it for the Great Danes, 12-11.
