Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team dropped both games against Texas Tech on Saturday afternoon, despite a strong effort in the second game of the day's doubleheader.
 
Coach Jon Mueller: "A great response in game two. We played clean defensively and battled all afternoon. Mello was outstanding and Enea kept us in the game. A number of contributions from different players which is a healthy sign."

How it Happened Game 1:

• Ethan Nardacci started on the mound for the Great Danes, Lukas Pirko started for the Red Raiders.
• Texas Tech took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI single and a fielder's choice.
• The Red Raiders added four runs in the second on five hits to push the lead to 6-0.
• Texas Tech added five more runs in the third.
• With two outs in the third, Zach Nalawadi replaced Nardacci on the mound for the Great Danes.
• The Red Raiders added three more runs in the third, pushing their lead to 14-0.
• Texas Tech extended its lead by one in the fourth, 15-0.
• The Great Danes added one run in the seventh courtesy of Patrick DeSarno. 

 
How it Happened Game 2:

• Christian Mello started on the mound for the Great Danes, Donovan Beccerra started for the Red Raiders.
• Luke Filippi opened the scoring with a three-run homerun in the top of the third, putting the Great Danes up 3-0.
• Jonny Lowe replaced Beccerra on the mound for the Red Raiders in the top of the fourth.
• In the bottom of the fourth, Texas Tech scored off a balk to bring the score to 3-1.
• Alex Anea replaced Mello on the mound in the bottom of the fifth for the Great Danes.
• Texas Tech pushed the score to 3-2 on a solo homer from Connor Shouse in the bottom of the fifth.
• Will Jordan replaced Lowe on the mound for Texas Tech in the top of the sixth.
• Han Heeryun replaced Jordan on the mound for the Red Raiders in the top of the seventh.
• The Great Danes extend their lead in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly from Jaxon Mueller. Tre Mariano then brought Kyle Stephens and Michael Maggio home on a fielding error to push the score to 6-3.
• Bryce Suiter then took the mound for the Red Raiders.
• Texas Tech's Logan Hughes hit a solo shot in the bottom half of the inning to make it 6-4 before Jesse Rusinek followed with a two-run shot to tie the game.
• A walk-off home run from Texas Tech's Robin Villeneuve ended the game in the bottom of the ninth.
