The University at Albany Men's soccer program will take on the Marist Red Foxes Tuesday, September 9 at 6:30 PM. The Great Danes are coming off their second win of the season with a 3-0 victory over the University of Rhode Island on Friday, September 5. The win improves UAlbany to 2-0 at home along with goalkeeper Alex Krevokapic recording his second shutout of the season. Isaac Filippo, Tommy McFadden, and Ivar Gissurarson each scored one goal friday night, as now six different Great Danes have scored once this season with Alexander Clive and Rodrigo Hermelo leading the team with four points having both scored one goal and recorded two assits.

Around the America East, the Great Danes have allowed just nine shots on goal with six saves and three goals allowed, the lowest amount of shots on goal allowed in the America East. UAlbany also ranks first in the conference Amongst Shots Per Game (15.00) and Shots on Goal Per Game (6.25). Out of 210 teams nationally, UAlbany ranks with the 24th highest average of Corner kicks taken per game (6.50).

Against Marist (2-0-1), UAlbany is 5-2 all-time dating back to both teams first match since 2016. In last years match, the Great Danes defeated Marist 2-0 thanks to goals from Timo Jansen and Ander Castillo, with Castillo's goal coming off a header on a throw in. Marist is coming off a 4-2 victory on Friday night against Fordham, and are led by Gijs Verheul with two goals this season.

The UAlbany women’s soccer team is back at Casey Stadium this Thursday to face Holy Cross. The Crusaders enter at 3-3-1, coming off a 1-0 win at Maine. Aubrey Haesche has been strong in goal with a 0.58 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage, while Abby Cushing and Karenna Beckstein pace the attack with a goal and multiple assists each. For the Great Danes, Madison Hnis leads the offense with two goals through the opening six matches, finding the net against both Sacred Heart and Army while putting 60 percent of her shots on frame.

Holy Cross leads the all-time series 5-2, with UAlbany’s last win coming in 2015. The most recent meeting was on September 12, 2024, when the Crusaders earned a 1-0 victory in Worcester.

BLACK OUT GAME
Free T-Shirts for first 500 students.

The Great Danes return to Tom & Mary Casey Stadium for the first time in 2025 with the team’s home opener against New Haven, the first home game under interim head coach Jared Ambrose. The game is set to be a “Black Out” played under the stadium lights at 7:00 pm. The team will be in its black uniforms, with fans encouraged to match with a sea of black attire. The first 500 students to Saturday’s game will receive a free black T-Shirt.

New Haven, new to the FCS, has started the year with losses to Marist and Mercyhurst. The Great Danes also come into the matchup with an 0-2 record, battling Iowa (FBS) in the season opener and Delaware State in a weather-delayed week two.

Saturday’s game is presented by Fenimore Asset Management.
