HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first inning, Vanessa Meyers hit the first single of the game to open the second inning.
- Deanna Grahek immediately followed with a home run over the right-center-field fence.
- Columbia added a double in the bottom of the second the Great Danes kept it a 2-0 game.
- With two on base, the UAlbany defense ended the third inning with a double play.
- Meyers started the fourth inning getting on base with a walk.
- Victoria Vilarchao took the opportunity to slam the ball over the scoreboard for a deep home run to drive in two runs for the Great Danes.
- UAlbany extended their lead to seven after five innings.
- Taylor Quinn and senior Christie Collins got into scoring position quickly.
- Taking advantage of an error, Collins scored before Meyers added a two-RBI single to drive in Natasha Mendez and Quinn.
- The Lions loaded the bases but Hayley Wieczerzak struck out three batters to leave them all on base and end the inning with a 7-0 Great Dane lead.
- Columbia scored three runs in the sixth inning.
- Mendez added a final RBI single in the seventh inning to make the final score 8-3.
