HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mary Kate Murray hit the first single of the game in the bottom of the first.
- Holding Ball State scoreless in both the first and the second, the Great Danes took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning.
- Deanna Grahek drew a walk before advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt from redshirt-sophomore Natasha Mendez.
- Sara Anderson singled to shortstop to drive Grahek home from second base.
- The Cardinals answered with three runs in the top of the third.
- With two outs on the board, Victoria Vilarchao singled up the middle and put two runners on base but it wasn't enough as the next batter hit a fly ball for the third out.
- Ball State added two runs in the top of the fourth with two home runs before adding a grand slam and a fourth homer in the fifth inning.
- The Great Danes were unable to answer in the bottom of the fifth and fell to Ball State, 12-1.
