INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS NIGHT

The UAlbany women’s soccer team closes out non-conference play this Sunday with a matchup against Dartmouth. Kickoff is set for noon at Casey Stadium. 

Dartmouth enters at 6-3-4 overall and 2-1-2 in Ivy League action. Stephanie Lathrop leads the Big Green with six goals and three assists, while Maeve Theobald has added four goals. In net, Ola Goebel has posted an 0.46 goals-against average and an .885 save percentage across seven appearances.

UAlbany, led by Madison Hnis’ team-high three goals, looks to bounce back at home after a challenging conference stretch. Casey Stowell has scored twice, while goalkeeper Claudia Volino has recorded 76 saves and three shutouts this season.

The Great Danes are seeking their first-ever win against Dartmouth, with the Big Green holding a 5-0-1 advantage in the all-time series. The last meeting came in 2018, a 3-2 Dartmouth victory in Hanover

The UAlbany field hockey team is set to host New Hampshire to start their final regular-season weekend at home. The team holds a 9-5 record and are tied for first in the conference with a 2-1 league record. Junior Pilar Lorenzini leads a balanced attack with 10 goals. Six athletes have scored at least three goals throughout the 14-game season. Overall, 10 of 14 field players have scored at least once. 

The Wildcats are 7-6 with a 2-1 conference record. New Hampshire has faced three ranked opponents but was unable to beat either. Their one conference loss was to Vermont, a team that also owns a 2-1 league record. Nicole Poulakis leads the team and conference with 16 goals. Kathelijne Knuttel follows with 10 goals and leads the team with 10 assists. Poulakis (39) and Knuttel (30) both have earned at least 30 points on the season.

UAlbany leads the all-time series, 21-13. In their most recent meeting, the Great Danes defeated New Hampshire, 3-2, in overtime to remain undefeated in conference play during the 2024 season.

WEAR BLACK!

UAlbany enters the weekend on a two-match win streak after taking down Colgate and UMBC on the road. The Great Danes hit a combined .313 across both matches, led by graduate outside hitter Shynelle Woroniuk, who totaled 36 kills and 26 digs. Gabriella Karman added 17 kills and 14 total blocks, while setter Maria Olga Siapani averaged over 10 assists per set to guide the balanced attack.

New Hampshire sits near the top of the America East standings with a strong blocking presence and a steady offense that has pushed multiple matches to five sets this season.

UAlbany and New Hampshire met earlier this year in Durham, where the Wildcats earned a five-set victory. New Hampshire still leads the all-time series, 36-30.

The UAlbany women’s rowing team will compete at the Head of the Fish Regatta on Saturday, October 25, at Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

The Great Danes will race in the Women’s Collegiate 4+, Women's Collegiate 2V 8+, Women’s Collegiate 8+, and Women's Collegiate Frosh/Novice 8+ events. The regatta, hosted by the Saratoga Rowing Association, includes more than 120 teams across collegiate, junior, open, and masters divisions.

SENIOR NIGHT!

The Great Danes (4-5-3, 2-1-1 America East) will travel to Boston this Tuesday to take on Northeastern before returning home to Tom & Mary Casey Stadium this Saturday, October 25 to host the Binghamton Bearcats for Senior Night. 

Ivar Gissurarson leads the team with ten points, four goals and two assists. Gissurarson also leads the team with 22 shots total, 12 on goal. Rodrigo Hermelo follows, tallying seven points from two goals and three assists. Hermelo shares the team-high three assists with Andre Navas. Ethan Cook has logged the most minutes with 1005 recorded. In goal for UAlbany, Andrej Krivokapic has appeared the most, starting eight games where he has recorded 20 saves. 

Binghamton (4-10, 0-4 America East) are coming into the game on a six-game losing streak, their most recent loss coming against conference leader, #2 Bryant. Anthony Randazzo leads the Bearcats with ten points from five goals. DT Megliola leads the team in assists with four. Daniel Shannon has spent the most time in goal for Binghamton, starting eight games and recording 27 saves.

The UAlbany field hockey team hosts Stonehill for the 2025 Senior Day and their final regular-season contest at home. As a team, 10 of 14 field players have scored at least once with 12 field players contributing at least one goal or assist. Graduate student Olivia Bell leads the squad with nine assists. Mara Küskes is behind her with six.

The Skyhawks are 4-11 with a 4-3 conference record. Sisters Havana and Siena De Roeck lead the team with five goals and 11 points each. Makayla Strickulis holds the team-high with three assists. Stonehill has relied on Isabelle Morton in goal - she holds a 3.40 GAA and a .636 save percentage having played every minute.

UAlbany and Stonehill have played each other just once before in 2023. The Great Danes hosted the Skyhawks in the opening weekend of the season for a 5-0 shutout victory. Current senior Sophia Schoonmaker scored two goals while Mara Küskes tallied an assist.

SPOOKY SUNDAY

UAlbany continues its homestand on Sunday against Bryant following a strong stretch that included road wins at Colgate and UMBC. The Great Danes have been dominant at the net, totaling 24 blocks and 16 service aces across their last two matches. Shynelle Woroniuk and Kendall Harris continue to pace the offense, while Kasia Barletta has anchored the back row with consistent serve-receive and aggressive serving.

Bryant enters the weekend looking to build momentum in conference play, backed by one of the league’s top defensive units.

Bryant took the first meeting this season in Smithfield, a 3-1 decision on Sept. 28. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 5-3 heading into Sunday’s rematch.
