HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Maddi Petrella opened the game with a two-run homer. After graduate student Morgan Petty got on base with a fielding error by the second baseman, Petrella slammed the ball over the scoreboard for the 2-0 lead.
  • The Aggies answered with five runs in the bottom of the first.
  • Settling in, the Great Dane defense retired the TAMU offense in just three batters in the second.
  • Texas A&M added an unearned run in the third before loading the bases to start the fourth.
  • Two line drives later and a double play at first and UAlbany was headed back to the dugout with two Aggies left on base.
  • Caitlyn Frederick added her second single in as many at bats to make it two baserunners in the top of the fifth but the Great Danes were unable to take advantage as both were left on base at the end of the inning.
  • Throughout the entirety of the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings, only UAlbany earned the hits with one from Frederick and one from redshirt-junior Victoria Vilarchao.
  • Although the Great Dane defense locked down the bases at the end of the game, the offense was unable to come back from the first-inning lead and Texas A&M earned the win, 6-2.
