Short Story: Great pitching from the bullpen and patient hitting at the plate proved to be the difference as baseball defeated Maine, 9-7, to claim the weekend series.
Key Stat Lines
- UAlbany Pitchers:
- Thomas McElwee led the offense with three hits, including a double.
- Luke Filippi and Jared Toby recorded two RBIs each.
- Will Binder tallied his ninth multi-hit game of the season, highlighted by a triple to center field.
Head Coach Jon Mueller: "We talked about trying to defend our home field, one of our small goals at the beginning of the year, and we did that today. We showed a lot of fight today and that performance by Dylan (Banner) was epic. A year ago today, we played UMBC, it was a similar situation, and we didn't get the result he wanted but he stepped up big time for us. I thought
Steven Turk was important and we made some really good defensive plays. That's a good Maine club, that was a big step up by our team today. First series win at home, looking forward to Siena, our rivalry game, and Bryant this weekend."
