Key Stat Lines
Coach Jeff Kaier- "We struggled early on the mound, Matt Mariano threw the ball well in relief but we have to find a way to get off to better starts early in games."

How it Happened:
  • The Great Danes gave Owen Birkman the start. The Hoyas gave Marcello Mastroianni the nod.
  • UAlbany got the bats going early with John Vitucci leading off the game with a double and scoring on a Will Binder double down the left field line. Loading the bases with a hit by pitch and a single, Justin Hurd earned a walk to give the Great Danes a 2-0 advantage.
  • Georgetown was quick to strike back. Earning two walks, Derek Smith hit a rope to left center to score a run. Kavi Caster followed up with a three-run home run to take a 4-2 lead.
  • The Hoyas extended their lead in the bottom of the second with Christian Fica hitting a three-run shot, making it 7-2.
  • Caster hit his second home run of the contest to extend Georgetown's lead. The Hoyas continued to be dangerous at the plate as they loaded the bases and scored on a hit-by-pitch and a walk. Frica cleared the bases with a double down the right field line to push the score to 13-2.
  • Matthew Mariano was brought in from the pen by UAlbany in the third inning with a runner on second.
  • Continuing to add to their lead with an RBI single by Michael Eze to give Georgetown a 14-2 advantage in the fourth.
  • The Hoyas went to the pen in the fifth inning, bringing Jordan Yoder in to pitch.
  • In the sixth inning, Cooper Loyal and Justin Hurd got things going with back-to-back singles. Anthony Scarabino capitalized, going the other way for an RBI single, reducing the difference to 14-3.
  • Jack Volo was brought in to pitch by Georgetown in the seventh inning.
  • With two runners in scoring position, Braxton Templin added to the Hoyas' lead with a fielder's choice, making it 15-3.
  • With two runners on, Marco Castillo hit a two-run RBI double in the bottom of the eighth to give the Hoyas a 17-3 advantage.
  • Andrew Jergins came in to close the ninth inning for Georgetown.
