SHORT STORY: Three Great Dane women led the team with top 20 finishes as the Great Danes finished fifth at the America East Championship, Friday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Skyler Smith led the pack with a 15th-place finish in 18:03.52.
- Katie Iocca finished right behind Smith in 18:06.85.
- Tess Fitzmaurice made it three student-athletes in the top 20 as she crossed the finish line in 18:11.77.
- Alondra Cruz-Delgado (18:26.54) and Sophia Bisognano (18:27.63) finished nearly one minute apart to round out the women's scorers.
- All five scorers finished in the first 35 runners.
- The women's scoring gap was 24.11 seconds.
- As a team, the Great Danes tallied fifth place with 115 points. Bryant was just ahead of them with 111 points while Maine, Vermont, UMBC, and NJIT came behind UAlbany.
