NJIT Takes Game One of Weekend Series

Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team fell to NJIT in the first game of a three-game series on Thursday afternoon. The game was the last of the year for the Great Danes at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

  • Will Binder and Jason Bottari each led the team with three hits. Binder had one RBI, Bottari had two off of his second home run of the season.

  • The highlanders made it 6-0 in the third with another pair of runs – one on a sac fly, another on an RBI single.
  • Ulbany responded with a big rally in the third inning, scoring four runs. Will Binder hit an RBI double to bring home Justin Hurd before Jason Bottari hit a two-run bomb to left center. Finally, Carson Dunkel singled to bring home Will Feil, making it a 6-4 game.
  • Cam Fuer took the mound for UAlbany to start the fourth.
  • NJIT made it 7-4 in the top of the fourth on an RBI single from Cole Fleming.
  • The Highlanders made it 8-4 on an RBI single from Fleming in the sixth.
