Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team fell in 10 innings to the University of Maine on Sunday afternoon. The Great Danes held a 3-2 advantage entering the ninth inning, but were unable to hold off the Black Bears – falling in extra innings.

- Banner had one of the best starts any UAlbany pitcher has tossed all season, going seven strong innings while only allowing one earned run.
- Justin Hurd led the offense with two hits, including an RBI double and a walk.
- Carson Dunkel collected two RBIs, going 1-4 with a walk.
- Will Binder, Dan Tauken, and Danny Alvarez all collected one hit each.
- UAlbany finished with six hits, six walks, six strikeouts, and left seven men on base.
How it Happened:
- Dylan Banner started on the mound for the Great Danes, Noah Lewis started for the Black Bears.
- Maine got on the board first on a solo home run in the opening inning from Jeremiah Jenkins.
- UAlbany shot into the lead in the third inning when Carson Dunkel sent a long ball over the right field fence, scoring Justin Hurd.
- Maine was able to tie the game at 2-2 in the fifth on a sac fly from Jake Marquez, Scoring Jake Rainess. The run was unearned.
- UAlbany took a 3-2 advantage in the seventh. Hurd sent a ball to left field for a double, enabling Chris Fisher to cross home plate for the lead. The double knocked Maine's Lewis out of the game. He was replaced by Andrew Chevarie.
- Chevarie walked two batters in the seventh and was promptly replaced by Colton Carson.
- Banner was replaced by Owen Birkman on the mound in the eighth inning.
- Maine was able to tie the game in the bottom ninth to force extra innings. Myles Sargent reached on a fielder's choice and advanced on an error, which resulted in Marquez scoring.
- The Black Bears won the game in the bottom of the tenth on a double by Quinn McDaniel, scoring Marquez.
Next: The Great Danes return to action next weekend with a three-game home series against UMass Lowell. Friday's game will mark the first time this season UAlbany plays at Joseph L.
