How it Happened
- The University at Albany men's lacrosse team hit the road for just the third, and penultimate, time for the 2023 regular season, paying a visit to the Bryant Bulldogs, the first meeting between the teams as America East opponents. Bryant was one of three teams unbeaten in league play, and one of two teams boasting a 7-2 overall record.
- UAlbany got on the board first when Thomas Decker scored after just 64 seconds had elapsed in the game. Bryant responded by scoring each of the next five, to lead 5-1 with 13:05 left on the clock in the second quarter.
- Graydon Hogg scored, unassisted, with 11:46 left in the second to end Bryant's run, but the Bulldogs scored the next four uninterrupted, including a pair just nine seconds apart.
- Trailing 9-2 mid-way through the second, the Great Danes pieced together a brief run when Decker scored his second, followed by Silas Richmond netting his first of the day off a setup from Jack Pucci to cut Bryant's lead to 9-4 with 4:40 to go. The Bulldogs responded by ending UAlbany's short run in just seven seconds to go up 10-4.
- The Bulldogs ended the first half on a 6-0 run in the final 4:33. By the end of the first half, the Bulldogs had scored 15 goals and allowed just 16 UAlbany shots, and had doubled-up the Great Danes on faceoff wins, 14-7.
- The Great Dane offense came alive in the third quarter, rolling off six-straight goals to close withing 15-10. Bryant scored late in the third to end UAlbany's run at six and take a six-goal lead into the fourth. Elijah Gash kick-started UAlbany's run with a goal in transition, and Peter Salit ended it with back-to-back goals just 90 seconds apart to pull UAlbany within five.
- After ending UAlbany's 6-0 run, Bryant scored the next three to lead 18-10 with 13:19 left in the game. UAlbany rolled off each of the next three before the 10-minute mark to close back within five.
- Bryant scored twice to interrupt UAlbany's comeback attempt, taking a 20-13 lead with just 5:39 remaining. UAlbany closed out the game scoring three goals in the final 3:22, including one final score with two seconds remaining from Jack Pucci to bring the final score to 20-16 in favor of the Bulldogs.
- After being outshot 31-16 in the first half, UAlbany rallied to outshoot Bryant 28-15 in the second. Nineteen of UAlbany's 28 second-half shots were on target, while Bryant only managed to hit the frame on eight shots after the break. Finally, UAlbany won 13 of 18 faceoffs in the second half, including eight of 10 in the fourth quarter.
