SHORT STORY: The Great Danes were unable to overcome an early lead from the River Hawks, Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Morgan Petty earned the first hit with a single through the left side in the top of the first inning.
  • The River Hawks took a two-run lead before the first inning ended.
  • The Great Dane defense held two runners on base to hold UML off in the second inning.
  • A two-run homer extended UMass Lowell's lead after three innings.
  • Sara Anderson hit UAlbany's second single to advance Petty to third in the top of the fourth.
  • Sacrificing herself, Anderson was caught stealing after Petty scored the Great Danes' first run.
  • A second two-run home run put the River Hawks up, 6-1, after four innings.
  • Chloe Lewis answered for UAlbany with a ball over the left-field fence. 
  • Tallying three-straight outs, the Great Danes held UML at 6-2 when the fifth inning finished.
  • Caitlyn Mitros added a single to open the sixth inning but the runner was left on base.
  • UAlbany held off the River Hawk advance in the bottom of the sixth and left two runners on base.
  • Maddi Petrella opened the seventh inning with a single but the Great Danes were unable to score and UMass Lowell took the 6-2 win.
 
NEXT: UAlbany is set to close the regular season at home with a three-game series against Binghamton (May 5-6).
