Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team threw nine different pitchers in a midweek loss to UMass.

Head Coach Jon Mueller: "It was good to get the pen some work mid-week. We didn't achieve a win but there were some bright spots to build on."

How it Happened:
  • Rob Manetta started on the mound for UAlbany, Ren Lints started for UMass.
  • UMass scored four runs in the first inning, knocking Manetta out of the game early. He was replaced by Owen Birkman.
  • Steven Turk took the mound for the Great Danes to start the third. Cole Koeppel took the mound for UMass in the bottom half of the inning.
  • Joseph Tobia entered the game for UAlbany to start the fourth.
  • UMass made it a 6-0 ballgame in the fourth. Justin Blumenthal scored from third on a wild pitch before Will MacLean sent a solo shot over the right field wall. Nicholas Jessen entered the game to close out the rest of the inning for UAlbany.
  • UAlbany gained two runs back in the top of the fifth on an Owen Silliman single, scoring Chris Fisher and Will Feil to make it 6-2.
  • UMass responded in the bottom half of the inning with another run of support on an RBI single from Nolan Tichy. The hit knocked Jessen out of the game. He was replaced by Ryan Pittz.
  • Ben Chrzanowski was handed the ball for UMass to start the sixth.
  • Cam Fuer entered the game for UAlbany in the sixth.
  • Kyle McCaffrey pitched the seventh for UAlbany, Dylan Banner pitched the eighth.
  • UMass made it 8-2 in the eighth inning on an RBI single from Michael Toth.
