How it Happened
- Ludith Campos led three UAlbany weight throwers in Thursday's special early session of the weight throw. Campos placed first overall in the field of 12 with a mark of 66-09.25. The mark represents a season best for Campos, and is the second-best of her career.
- Campos recorded a mark of 60-04.25 on her first attempt, and improved to 61-08.25 on her second. After fouling her third attempt, she remained in second place and was awarded three additional throws.
- Campos fouled her fourth attempt before unleashing her best mark of the day on her fifth attempt. She closed the competition with a 64-02.50 on her sixth and final attempt.
- Shelby Bigsby placed third overall with a mark of 64-10.00, a personal best by more than three feet. Bigsby's best mark came on her third attempt, which had her in the lead before Erica Belvit, competing unattached, wrested the top spot from her with a 66-08.00 mark in the fourth round. Campos took the lead for good in the fifth round.
- Steph Green, marking her first trip to the Millrose Games as a Great Dane, placed fourth overall. Green recorded her best mark in the second round with a throw of 59-03.25, which landed her third at the time and granting her three additional throws as a member of the top five performers after round three. The mark is a personal-best for Green by five inches.
Next: Travis Williams and
Rori Lowe compete in the men's 60m and the women's 300m, respectively, on Saturday's main day at Millrose. America East Indoor Championships begin February 18.
