Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team won its final game of the season, taking a 4-1 victory over UMass Lowell on Saturday afternoon. The Great Danes celebrated Senior Day with a pregame ceremony, honoring
Marshall Winn,
Josh Loeffler,
John Daly,
Johnny Marti,
Anthony Germinerio,
Brad Malm,
Michael Whalen, and
Ray Weber.
With Hartford winning against Maine earlier in the day, the Great Danes have officially been eliminated from postseason contention.
Head Coach Jon Mueller: "Today's game was much like yesterday. We threw the ball extremely well, played great defense, and we did enough offensively to win the game. I think we've given up five hits in 18 innings and still split. In a nut shell, these seniors are going to go out with 99 wins and three or four conference tournaments. Tremendous ambassadors for the university, whether it's been in the classroom with their academic awards or in the community with our Vs. Cancer game and the amount of money they've raised, there's a lot to be proud of. Obviously, a little disappointing with the way the season ended, but there's too much to be proud of to hang our heads. This has been a record-setting group and they've defined what the three pillars are for UAlbany Athletics.
