Short Story: The University at Albany baseball team lost its first home series of the year, falling 10-12 in game three against the NJIT Highlanders.
Johnny Marti and
Will Feil led the Great Danes with two RBIs each.
Coach Jon Mueller: "I thought the guys battled back a couple times. We took a couple leads, we just got really thin at the back of the pen. We weren't able to close the deal today. Hopefully this is a good experience for the guys to learn something. A great teachable moment after this weekend, lets the guys know we have a lot of work to do."

- Will Binder and Jason Bottari had the most hits for UAlbany. Binder went 3-4, collecting a double, one RBI, a walk, and a scored run. Bottari went 3-5 and drove in one run.
- Johnny Marti and Will Feil had multiple hits for the Great Danes as well. Marti went 2-3 with two doubles, two RBIs, two walks, and one scored run. Feil (2-5) hit a home run, picked up two RBIs and crossed home twice.
- Michael Whalen (1-5), John Daly (1-5), Carson Dunkel (1-2), and Chris Fisher (1-5) had the remaining hits for UAlbany. Dunkel scored twice while Fisher crossed home plate once.
- UAlbany left seven runners on base, whereas NJIT left 11.
- UAlbany pitchers allowed eight walks, NJIT allowed six.
- Four Great Danes struck out, NJIT batters struck out once.
How it Happened:
- Connor Eisenmann started on the mound for the Great Danes, Aaron Park started for the Highlanders.
- The Great Danes struck first in the opening inning when Will Feil scored on a wild pitch.
- Jenkins replaced Park for NJIT halfway through the bottom of the first, unable to record an out.
- The scoring continued in the first. Johnny Marti doubled through the right side, scoring Brad Malm, Will Binder scored on an error, and Jason Bottari hit an RBI single to right field to score Marti making it 4-0.
- UAlbany added a run in the bottom of the second. Malm singled to left field to get on base, then advanced to third on a double by Binder and eventually crossed home plate on an error.
- NJIT tied the game in the top of the third. Julio Marcano first doubled through the left side, scoring David Marcano and Jared Donnelly. The next at-bat, Albert Choi hit an RBI single to score Julio Marcano. Later in the inning, Andrew Elcock grounded out but scored Choi and Nick Hussey doubled to left center, scoring Paul Franzoni.
- Nicholas Jessen replaced Eisenmann on the mound midway through the third inning.
- NJIT took a lead 5-8 in the same inning. Donnelly hit a two-RBI double to score Ray Ortiz and Hussey and Julio Marcano singled to left, scoring Donnelly.
- Jake Rappaport started the bottom of the third for NJIT.
- Rob Manetta took the mound for UAlbany to start the fourth.
- UAlbany head coach Jon Mueller was ejected in the top of the fourth.
- NJIT's Choi doubled to left to score Julio Marcano in the top of the fifth.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Feil hit his fifth home run of the season, a two-run shot over the right field fence, scoring Carson Dunkel who was previously hit by a pitch.
- Marti made it a one-run game in the same inning when he hit an RBI double, scoring Binder.
- Joe Georgini entered the game for the Highlanders to start the bottom of the seventh.
- UAlbany took a 10-9 lead in the bottom of the seventh. Binder hit an RBI single, scoring Dunkel and Chris Fisher scored on an error.
- NJIT took back the lead in the top of the eighth. Choi scored on a sac fly by Isiah Daubon, Franzoni scored on a sac fly by Hussey and Luke Longo singled up the middle, scoring Elcock.
- Marshall Winn replaced Manetta on the mound to start the final inning.
