UAlbany Men’s Basketball Announces 2021-22 Schedule

ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany men’s basketball team has officially released its 2021-22 non-conference schedule. In addition, the America East today announced its conference schedule for all 10 member institutions. UAlbany’s 2021-22 schedule consists of 13 non-conference games (four home, nine away) and 18 America East matchups.

This year will mark the beginning of the Dwayne Killings era at UAlbany, with the new head coach being hired last March. Killings is ready to bring a new “MENTALITY” to the program, a philosophy that seeks to impact his players in a way that helps them prepare for life, while also engaging in the Capital Region community during their time as Great Danes. This approach, coupled with a hard training, uptempo style of play, has created a newfound buzz about UAlbany basketball.

The Great Danes will play their first official game under Killings on Nov. 9 when they host Towson at home. The matchup will also mark the first time fans will be allowed back to SEFCU Arena since the end of the 2019-20 season. UAlbany is set to host non-conference opponents Harvard (Nov. 17), Columbia (Dec. 11), and Bucknell (Dec. 29) in Albany before jumping into conference action.

The team has nine non-conference road games this season, highlighted by a trip south to take on SEC powerhouse Kentucky at Rupp Arena on Nov. 22. The Great Danes will also take part in the Eastern Kentucky Invitational that same trip, playing Eastern Kentucky (Nov. 20) and Eastern Illinois (Nov. 24). The three games over a span of five days marks the most grueling part of the team’s non-conference slate. 

America East action begins on Jan. 2 when UAlbany travels north to battle Vermont. The Great Danes return to SEFCU Arena that Wednesday to host the first of nine conference home games when they take on Binghamton. Additional home matchups to note this season include a meeting against archrival Stony Brook on Jan. 22, a game against defending Regular Season Champions UMBC on Feb. 2, and a season-capping game against defending America East Champions Hartford to kick off the month of March.
