- UAlbany struck first in the third inning when Brad Malm hit an RBI double to left center that drove in Chase Carroll. Carroll's first run of the season gave UAlbany a 1-0 lead.
- The River Hawks responded in the bottom half with an RBI single, followed by a sacrifice fly, as they took a 2-1 lead over the Great Danes.
- In the top of the fourth, John Daly responded with an RBI triple that drove home Josh Gurnack to tie the game 2-2.
- After a scoreless bottom half, Will Feil hit a tie-breaking two-run home run in the fifth that gave UAlbany a 4-2 lead. The home run was Feil's third of the season.
- In the sixth with the bases loaded, Malm hit a double to left center that cleared the bases and extended UAlbany's lead to 7-2. The hit was Malm's third of game one and he drove in his second, third and fourth RBIs of the afternoon.
