How it Happened
- The Seawolves produced one RBI double in the first inning, a two-RBI double and RBI triple in the second inning and took an early 4-0 lead. Johnny Marti responded with an RBI double in the third and cut the lead to 4-1 – a score that remained through the fourth inning.
- In the fifth inning, Stony Brook's Brett Paulsen hit a two-run single that gave them a 6-1 lead. UAlbany came back with three runs in the bottom half – three RBI singles by Marti, Marc Wangenstein and Josh Gurnack that cut the lead to 6-4.
- In the sixth inning, Stony Brook's Chris Hamilton and John Tuccillo hit back-to-back home runs and extended the Seawolves' lead to 9-4. In the bottom half, UAlbany scored three runs behind a Jason Bottari bases loaded walk and Josh Loeffler two-run double and cut the lead to 9-7.
- In the eighth inning, Stony Brook scored one more run, on a wild pitch that gave them a 10-7 lead, before UAlbany stormed back in the bottom half.
- Gurnack started the rally with a one-run double, followed by a Brad Malm RBI double. With runners on second and third, Bottari hit a sacrifice fly that drove in Dolan Ocasal for UAlbany's third run of the inning. Tied at 10, Malm scored on a wild pitch that gave the Great Danes their first lead of the game, 11-10.
- In the top of the ninth, Stony Brook's Cole Durkan hit a game-tying home run off UAlbany pitcher Anthony Germinerio. Shane Paradine followed a few batters later with a two-run double and Evan Fox drove in another run with a single.
- Relief pitcher Brian Morrisey was able to shut the door on the Great Danes, as Stony Brook earned a 14-11 victory in game one of the series.
