ALBANY, N.Y. – The 2017-18 collegiate season has come to a close, but a handful of student-athletes in the University at Albany track & field program will continue to compete well into the summer. First among this group is a trio of freshmen who will compete this weekend at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships at Indiana University. 

Asia Jinks, a jumper/hurdler from Hempstead, N.Y., will compete in the 400m hurdles. She satisfied the qualifying standard at the America East Outdoor Championships, winning the individual title in a personal-best 1:00.65. Jinks ranks ninth all-time in program history in the 400m hurdles.

Victor Cotto, a jumper from, Bayonne, N.J., will compete in the long jump. Cotto satisfied the qualifying standard at the America East Outdoor Championships when he recorded a personal-best mark of 23-07.50 to place second overall. He ranks 10th all time outdoors in program history in the long jump.

Bryan Nicholson, a thrower from Elmont, N.Y., will compete in the discus. He was accepted into the field with a personal-best mark of 168-02.00, which he set at the America East Outdoor Championships to place second overall. Nicholson ranks fifth all-time in program history in the discus and is the freshman record-holder in the event.

Last season, Hannah Reinhardt and Omahri Sturdivant competed at USATF Junior Outdoor Championships, with Reinhardt earning Junior All-America honors in the women's 3,000m.

The semifinals of the women's 400m hurdles take place on Friday, June 15 at 5:20 p.m.  The men's long jump will compete on Friday at 5:00 p.m., and the men's discus will start on Sunday, June 17 at 2:30 p.m.
