Shamrock Results | Spring Classic Results

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C and CAROLINA, Puerto Rico—The University at Albany outdoor track & field program split over the weekend in their first meets of the season. Part of the team competed at the three-day Connie Alan Shamrock Invitational, while the rest attended the Carolina Spring Break Classic.

Shamrock Invitational:

In the women's 800-meter race, Dominique Claudio placed 11^th overall, running a 2:15.49 and placing her 42^nd in the East Region.

Freshman Cara Sherman placed seventh in the mile in 5:05.47 and Nira Lovick was 10^th in 5:08.24.

Molly Pezzulo placed first overall in the 3,000-meter race, running a 9:53.52 and satisfying the ECAC standard. Hannah Smith was second in the 5,000-meter with a time of 17:46.50, placing her 12^th in the region.

Paige Vadnais was 14^th in the 400-hurdles with a time of 63.35. Her mark sets her at 45^th in the region.

The women's 4x100-relay team of Stephanie Osuji, Chanel Smith, Taahira Butterfield, and Paige Vadnais ran a 46.99 for seventh place and to meet the ECAC standard. In the 4x800 relay, Tiguida Toure, Nira Lovick, Breanna Cummings, and Dominique Claudio ran a collective time of 9:21.61 for sixth place.

In the women's field events, Freshman Anika Hibbard placed third overall in high jump with a mark of 5' 7". Her mark met the ECAC standard and puts her 10^th in the region. Letti Hibbard placed ninth overall with a mark of 5'3”.

Chinwe Igwe placed 11^th in the discus with a mark of 135' 8" and Lauren Lopano was 13^th in 131' 10".

The Great Danes had three competitors in the heptathlon.

Paige Vadnais placed second overall with 4,825 points. She is second in the East region. Vadnais placed second in the 200 in 25.23, third in the 100 hurdles in 14.67,second in long jump in 17' 11.5", third in the high jump with a mark of 5'4.50”, seventh in javelin in 82' 3", and 13th in the shot put with a mark of 27'10.25”.

Mary Adeyeye was fifth with 4,510 points. She placed first in the shot put with a mark of 37'10”, second in javelin in 99' 10", fourth in the 100 hurdles in 15.08, sixth in the 200 in 27.04, ninth in the high jump with a mark of 4'10.50”, and 10^thin long jump in 16' 4.5". She is fourth in the region.

Freshman Letti Hibbard placed seventh overall with 4,152 points. She was third in the high jump with a mark of 5'4.10”, seventh in the 200 in 27.22, eighth in the 100 hurdles in 15.75, eighth in long jump in 16' 6", ninth in javelin in 76'10”, and14^th in shot put with a mark of 27'.06”. Hibbard is currently seventh in the region.

Spring Break Classic:

On the track, Osayi Owie placed 13^th in the women's 400-meters with a time of 58.36.

In the 100-hurdles, Niamani Morrison placed fifth overall in 14.75, followed by Chibugo Ike in sixth with a time of 15.08. Halie Snyder placed ninth in 15.49 and Nichole Anderson was 10^th in 15.64.

Aderinsola Ajala placed second in the 400-hurdles, running a time of 1:01.42. Her time qualifies for ECAC and places her 17^th in the region. Chibugo Ike placed ninth in a time of 1:04.68

The 4x400-relay team of Aderinsola Ajala, Akua Williams, Osayi Owie, and Chibugo Ike placed second, running a collective time of 4:03.26.

Next up UAlbany will head back south for the Florida Relays on Thursday, March 31^st through Saturday, April 2.
