NLL Release - Rookie of the Year Finalists
ALBANY, N.Y. – The National Lacrosse League (NLL) has announced that Miles Thompson, alum of the University at Albany, is a finalist for the 2015 NLL Rookie of the Year.
Thompson played his rookie season this past winter for the Minnesota Swarm, who selected him third overall in the NLL Entry Draft in September. He finished second on the team and among all NLL rookies with 62 points in 18 games, scoring 27 goals and 35 assists. He earned at least three points in 13 of his 18 games played.
The other two finalists for 2015 NLL Rookie of the Year are Ben McIntosh of the Edmonton Rush and Jeremy Noble of the Colorado Mammoth.
The winner will be announced on September 29th in Toronto during the 2015 NLL Season Awards Ceremony.
Currently, Thompson is on the Swarm's roster, but not in Minnesota. The franchise announced in May that the team will play in Atlanta in 2016 and be known as the Georgia Swarm.
Thompson played for UAlbany from 2011-14, becoming the program's all-time leading goal scorer. He finished his career with 293 points, second all-time in UAlbany history, off 189 goals and 104 assists. He shared the Tewaaraton Trophy with brother Lyle Thompson in 2014 after the duo helped the Great Danes to a berth in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
