ALBANY, N.Y. –
With a 68-66 edge over the Purple squad, the Gold University at Albany women's indoor track and field squad won the 19
th Annual Intrasquad Meet Saturday afternoon at SEFCU Arena. However, the combined men's and women's Purple team won, 150-122. The friendly marked the team's first competition of the 2012-13 season.

Five different facility records were broken on the women's side, including junior Jillian Haynes' 40.90 mark in the 300-meter dash, breaking Feyisara Adaramola's 2009 record (41.0). That record-breaking victory also secured the win for Gold, representing the last race on the meet's schedule. Haynes also earned the Gold team an additional five points, placing first in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.16.

Senior Allison Rogers also bested the SEFCU record in the 500-meter dash, set by teammate Kamilah Williams last season (1:17.84), with a 1:17.03 mark for Purple. Williams took second, running 1:18.16.

Junior Brittney Killibrew (2:27.54) just barely legged out freshman Brianna Cummings (2:27.70) in the 800 meter run in one of the closer races of the day.

Another photo finish occurred in the 55-meter hurdles, as sophomore Michelle Anthony (8.46) beat out junior Tynelle Taylor-Chase (8.49) by just three hundredths of a second.

Junior high jumper Rochelle Reid broke the facility record, leaping 1.70 meters (5-07.00 ft). Classmate Ashley Grant took second with a jump of 1.60m (5-03.00 ft.).

Sophomore ToniAnn Werner earned the win in pole vault with a best of 2.59m (8-06.00 ft.).

Senior Patricia McNish placed first in long jump and triple jump, setting new SEFCU Arena records in both. She bested her own record, set last season, with a 6.07 meter (19-11.00 ft.) leap in the long jump event, while also bounding a record 12.08 meters (39-07.75 ft.) in the triple jump.

Sophomores Janice Johnson (41-08.75 ft.) and Samantha Kosa (41-06.50 ft.) placed first and second, respectively, in the shot put. Kosa also took second in the discus throw with a 34.15m (112-00 ft.) toss, edged by sophomore Veleisha Walker (117-01 ft.). Johnson (39-02.50 ft.) earned the win for Gold in the weight throw, as well.

Both Walker and junior Katie Dowd threw the javelin further than the facility record, as Walker had a 36.38-meter (119-04 ft.) throw and Dowd held onto her own record with a 40.82-meter (133-11 ft.) pitch.

The Great Danes will compete in their first intercollegiate meet January 4-5 at West Point.
