CAMBRIDGE, MASS. -- UAlbany's Kristi Troch was named the America East Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. It is the first weekly award of the 2012 season for Troch.
Troch, who is the lone goalkeeper on the UAlbany squad, led the Great Danes to a 1-1 week. UAlbany fell to America East opponent #12 Boston U. on Friday, and defeated #25 Louisville, 3-1, on Sunday.
Troch, a native of Lehighton,
Pa., made five saves and recorded a 1.50 goals-against average in the two games. The senior
goalkeeper, a two-time America East Goalkeeper of the Year, stopped three shots
in the Great Danes' 2-1 loss to Boston U., then made two saves in
earning her fifth win of the year in a 3-1 victory over Louisville.
