Vestal, N.Y. - Freshman Brandon Planck scored with 20 seconds remaining to left Binghamton to an 8-7 America East Conference victory over UAlbany on Saturday, April 30 at Bearcats Sports Complex. The Bearcats ended a three-game skid in the series.
     Binghamton (7-7, AE 3-2) trailed 6-5 heading in the final period, but took advantage of penalties to go ahead. After an illegal body-check infraction, Michael Antinozzi tied the contest by rifling a low shot from the right point into the net with 8:24 to play. Following an offsides call, Plank scored another man-up goal 45 seconds later.
     UAlbany (5-10, AE 0-5) drew even at seven apiece when Joe Resetarits spun into the middle of zone and around a defender. The Bearcats, who had not won in the series since April 28, 2007, got the game-winner in the closing moments. David Raleigh missed the net wide, but Planck collected the ground ball behind the cage and moved to the right of crease on the decisive play.
     In the first quarter, the Bearcats scored twice in one-minute-and-one-second span. Tyler Perrelle scored unassisted, the first of two goals in the half. Antinozzi, who tallied twice and handed out an assist, drove around the cage to score from the left.
     The Bearcats picked up another pair of goals early in the second period. UAlbany goalkeeper Edmund Cathers turned the ball over on a long clearing pass to start a transition play. Matt Springer then converted from the right off midfielder John Clark's feed. Perrelle followed with an extra-man goal after the Great Danes were whistled for an illegal body-check. Resetarits finally got his team on the scoreboard with 1:04 remaining before the break when he drove from the top and spun in front of the crease.
     The Great Danes trailed 5-1 midway through the third quarter, before reeling off five unanswered over the next seven minutes. Ty Thompson tallied his second in that stretch, before Brian Caufield knotted the score by moving from behind and shooting high into the cage. Freshman Miles Thompson gave his team the lead in a man-advantage situation with 1:44 left in the quarter.
     Resetarits, a junior midfielder, totaled two goals and one assist and extended his point-scoring streak to 34 consecutive games. Brian Caufield, a senior who had one goal and one assist, finished his college career seventh on the all-time scoring list with 162 points (70 goals, 92 assists). The Great Danes went winless in regular-season conference play for the first time since joining the league in 2002.
