Cambridge, Mass. - University at Albany's Miles Thompson has been selected America East Conference Rookie of the Week in men's lacrosse, as announced on Monday, April 18 by the conference office. Thompson, a freshman attackman from Nedrow, N.Y., earned the league's weekly award for the third time this season.
Thompson matched a career-high with four points (3 goals, 1 assist) in a 13-9 league loss to UMBC on April 16. He also tied a career-best with three ground balls and had one caused turnover. Thompson tallied a pair of goals to tie the contest at five apiece and later found the cage on a behind-the-head shot in an extra-man situation for a 7-6 lead.
Thompson, who scored two or more points in six consecutive games, is seventh among the America East leaders in goals at 1.75 per game. He has 21 goals and six assists this season.
Paw Prints: Joe Resetarits owns a 31-game, point-scoring streak, the seventh-longest in the nation ... Resetarits, a junior midfielder, has also scored at least one goal in 30 straight contests and is tied with Virginia's Chris Bocklet for the longest streak nationally ... Brian Caufield moved into a tie for ninth with Chris Martocchia (2003-06) on UAlbany's all-time scoring list with 153 points (66 goals, 87 assists) ... Caufield, a senior attackman, is tied for fifth among the active NCAA career assists leaders and is currently 15th nationally at 1.67 per game ... UAlbany will play its seventh national top-20 team this season when the Great Danes travel to No. 14 Stony Brook on Saturday, April 23.
